Kolhapur, the hot and happening city seemed to have just one
schedule for the day as yesterday every one was busy with Vighan
harata Lord Ganesh. Ten day worship celebrations started yesterday
through out the Maharashtra with bringing the Idols of Gourinandan
for the establishment at homes and Pandals of Mandals, like to most
of the cities of Maharashtra, Kolhapur was also remained sounded
with “Ganapati Bappa Mpriya” and “Moriya, Moriya, Ganpati Bappa
Moriya” through out the day, though during the day rainy showers
kept on playing hide and seek game but this doesn’t affects on
enthusiasm of Kolhapurkars, who kept the traditions of welcoming
Ganaraya with routine dedication on this day of Ganesh Chturthi.
In the morning roads were crowded with the people from all age
groups including young girls, with idols of “Shree” in hands, in
lap, on the
head and even on cars and two wheelers, taking home for
the establishment. Many of the peoples were from near by villages
and suburbs of the city, as since last two three days city was
experiencing heavy showers in the evening so every body was willing
to take Lord Ganesh to home before the rain comes heavily.
The enthusiasm of workers of mandals was rising high with sun’s
traveling towards the center of sky, so the decoration of vehicles
being prepared for bring Ganpati Bappa in procession. This is recent
addition to Kolhapur Ganesh festival that like the “Visarjan “ idols
of “Shree” are also brought in procession.
Kolhapur Ganesh festival is unique in the sense as here the
community mandals are always aware of the social problems, since
past few years common residents of the city were feeling increase in
the sound pollution due to some what excessive use of Dolby sound
system, so this year there is a kind of ban on this hence
processions were with the traditional musical instruments like, Dhol,
Tasha, Benzo and Lazim Groups with traditional band groups along
with decorative lighting. Mandals of Rajarampuri were have a common
procession and this was eye catching scene that idols of various
mandals were coming one by one under the multicolored laser light
effects and music.
In the Rajarampuri area “Shivaji Tarun Mandal” has erected replica
of famous Chamundeshwari Temple and will open this for people from
the Wednesday, “Vishawavijay Temple” another replica is erected by
“Radhakrishana Tarun Mandal” at Shahupuri with very decorative
lightings.
City traffic was under the influence of disturbance especially in
the areas like “Papachi Tikati, Shahupuri, Kumbhar Galli, Bapat camp
and Venus corner, some roads were closed and traffic police was
guiding people for the alternative roads. |
