Kolhapur Ganesh : Worshiping Lord Ganesha

         Unique way and specific style of celebration has made Kolhapur Ganesh festival famous as the “Kolhapur Ganesh” on the world levels. Tourists not only from the various parts of the country but even from the abroad prefer to visit Kolhapur city during last 3-4 days of these 10-11 days long celebrations. This is the normal routine of the city that Sarvjanik Mandals open their scenes and give more stress on decoration only after the “Gouri Ganpati visarjan” [usually on the 5th day, this year on 8th September] so all the scenes will open for public positively from the 10th September 2008.

Though whole city celebrates Ganesh festival but still there are some areas like Rajarampuri, Shahupuri, Shivaji Peth etc. where population of Sarvajanik Mandals is comparatively more dense hence as evening gets more and more darker these areas literary turns into human oceans.
